The Hobbit at Lowes Mount
Built in 2020, ‘The Hobbit’ is a 2 bedroom contemporary accommodation designed to take in the magnificent views across the Tarana Valley. Located on our working truffiere, guests can wander through the oaks in the truffiere, explore the farm paddocks and listen to the birds under the native eucalypts.
Wake up to the expansive view in either of two queen bedrooms. Shower under the stars in the two private bathrooms. Feel the warmth of floor heating as you curl up with a book and watch the snow fall. Relax with a BBQ and a wine in the courtyard as you watch the sunset over the valley.
$350 per night (2 night minimum stay) for 2 people. There will be an extra $50 per person. (2 queen beds).
In mid-June, July, mid-August only, truffle hunts may be booked ($100). Accommodation and truffle hunts are fully booked from 13th June to 8th August. The season finishes on the 8th August. Accommodation only is available throughout the rest of the year.
Note: The Hobbit is suitable for adult accommodation only. We are unable to cater for pets on our working farm.
Accommodation includes linen and the Hobbit has a fully equiped kitchen.
If Covid related a full refund is available if you live in a declared hotspot at the time of your hunt.
About the Hobbit
‘The Hobbit’ reflects our minimalist approach to life; simple, efficient, sustainable, low maintenance, yet stylish and comfortable. The house is built to maximise thermal and electrical efficiency. The concrete slab is insulated and heated by both passive solar and state of the art hydronics, double glazed floor to ceiling windows and full insulation. The house generates its own electricity but is backed up by the grid. Water comes from rainfall collected off the roof and waste is recycled.
